Early Life and Family 🌱
Michael Jordan was born on February 17, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York. But when he was still a baby, his family moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, where he spent most of his childhood.
Michael Jordan was the fourth of five children. He had two older brothers (Larry and James Jr.) and two sisters (Deloris and Roslyn). His mother, Deloris, worked at a bank, and his father, James, worked with equipment at General Electric.

In 1984, Michael was picked 3rd overall in the NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls. He quickly became famous. In his rookie season, he led all new players in scoring and earned Rookie of the Year .
In the 1985–86 season, he broke his foot and missed most of the year. But he came back in 1987 and had a record for ten straight scoring titles, averaging about 33 points per game .
Nickname and Playing Style
One of Michael’s most famous nicknames is “Air Jordan”. He earned it for his incredible jumps and slam dunks – he once dunked from the free-throw line in a dunk contest.
