Shah Rukh Khan was born on 2nd November 1965, at New Delhi, the capital city of India. His father was Meer Taj Muhammad Khan and mother named Lateef Fatima. His father had an Indian origin (based in Peshawar now in Pakistan) before the split of India in 1947. He was a son of a Hyderabadi mother. It was the middle-class family of Muslims.
Shah Rukh Khan was brought up in the simple colony in Delhi named Rajendra Nagar. He had little money and lived in rented house. His parents however instilled good values in him. They never failed to teach him at all to respect others, be hardworking, and remain humble.
Shah Rukh Khan attended St. Columba School in Delhi. He was an intelligent child who was good at sports as well. He was rewarded with school awards in studies, sports, drama. He was a subsequent student of Hansraj College, where he received a degree in Economics. He then enrolled at Jamia Millia Islamia to do a course on mass communication where he aimed to work at films and the television.
Sadly, Shah Rukh Khan lost his father when he was only 15 years old. His mother died later when he was in his twenties. These early losses made him very strong and emotional. He always says his parents are his biggest inspiration.
Starting of His Acting Journey
Shah Rukh Khan started his career as an actor in the television. He made his debut appearance in a show called Fauji in 1989. He was a junior army officer in that show. His acting and smile were loved by people. He also hosted other shows on TV such as Circus and Umeed.
However Shah Rukh Khan constantly dreamt of becoming an actor in films. He immigrated in Mumbai, the city of dreams in 1991. He had few money and no connections. He lived with friends and found it hard just as others did. Nevertheless, he never gave in.
In 1992, he secured his first movie called Deewana that proved to be a hit. His energy, style and acting was appreciated by people. This was simply the start.
Rise to Stardom
After “Deewana,” Shah Rukh did many films back to back. He was different from other heroes. He was not tall and macho like others, but he had charm and strong emotions.
In the early years, he did many negative roles. Movies like “Baazigar” (1993) and “Darr” (1993) showed him as a villain. Still, people loved him. No one had seen a villain like that before – dangerous but also emotional.
But it was the movie “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ)” in 1995 that changed everything. In this film, he played Raj, a sweet and funny young man who falls in love. This film became a superhit and ran in theatres for more than 25 years! It made Shah Rukh a romantic hero forever.

Family Life – A Loving Husband and Father
Shah Rukh Khan married his college sweetheart Gauri Chhibber in 1991. Gauri is Hindu, and Shah Rukh is Muslim, but their love crossed religion. They faced challenges, but they stood together.
